In cooperation with its partner Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of the Republic of Turkey (MoEU), GIZ organized two trainings within the frame of the BMU project “Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings” on the Building Energy Performance Software (BEP-TR) in Ankara in February and April-May 2017. BEP-TR was first developed in 2010 as the national calculation software for the preparation of the Energy Performance Certificates under the “Regulation of Energy Performance of Buildings” of Turkey and the latest version of the software will be released in 2017.
Both trainings targeted different group of experts from Chambers of Mechanical Engineers, Civil Engineers, Architects and Electrical Engineers and private companies as part of the train-the-trainer programme on the BEP-TR software. In total, 228 people were trained on the software, including the latest version before its release.
The GIZ project "Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Turkey" is launched under the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI). The project devotes a whole component to assist its partner Ministry to build the capacity it needs to enforce existing regulations and enhance the legal framework conditions for energy efficiency in public buildings. In that sense, the project will continue its work by improving the existing training concept, procedures and materials for BEP-TR training events together with MoEU and other related stakeholders. Furthermore, elaboration of other training programs to increase the capacity of MoEU on central and provincial level and identification of needs for improving the legal infrastructure in this field is planned within the project.
